Bird Shuts Down Operations In Middle East

Santa Monica-based on-demand scooter company Bird has shut down its operations in the Middle East, according to reports, shutting down Circ, which it had acquired in January, and laid off all of its employees. Bird had only just acquired Circ in January, shortly before the world was hobbled by the pandemic. According to those reports, as many as 10,000 of Circ's scooters have been sent for recycling, and around 100 employees laid off.

Activision Delays Modern Warfare, Warzone, Call Of Duty Seasons

Santa Monica-based Activision says it is delaying the seasons of Modern Warfare , Warzone , and Call of Duty: Mobile , explaining in a post on Twitter that "now is not the time", referencing the civil unrest currently gripping the United States. Activision--which also runs the e-sport Overwatch League--has been rapidly adjusting its plans this year due to world events, including modifying how it has run its e-sports events due to the pandemic, and now the civil unrest in the US.

Los Angeles-based solar energy developer 8minute Solar Energy says it has received a $225M letter of credit, to go towards development of its pipeline of solar and energy storage projects. According to the company, the letter of credit was led by CIT, and also included KeyBank, HSBC, Rabobank and Nomura Holdings. Irvine-based Buy It Installed , a startup which provides on-site, home installation of products, says it is seeking $4.5M in a Series A extension, and received new investment funds as part of that funding. Amount of that investment was not announced by the company. According to Buy It Installed, it is currently focused on on-site, installation for the automotive aftermarket.

Insightful Science said the buy will help it build its portfolio of scientific software solutions.
