In Web Framework Benchmarks , there are some very interesting and surprising numbers around the performance of various web frameworks. Startup Founders really need to see these numbers. And I hope you are not running on Cake PHP when you see these numbers. The availability of talent was an important factor.

Realtime , a startup developing technology to help power real-time web applications, said today that it has raised $100M, launched in the U.S., and opened up a new office in Santa Monica. Realtime also opened up a New York office, in addition to existing offices in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, London, Madrid, and Lisbon.

Last week, we posted the results of benchmarking several web application development and frameworks. First up is data from the EC2 m1.large Third place is held by plain Java Servlets running on Caucho''s Resin Servlet container. Only Cake PHP requires more than 100 milliseconds. Starting again with EC2.

Up for grabs for first place at this hack was $10k. It took place at the swanky TechZulu Trend lounge that was overlooking Downtown Austin from 18 floors up at the top of the Garden Hilton.
