Yes, there are some events around particular technologies. Most networking events tend to either focus on specific technologies (PHP,Net, C#, Microsoft, LAMP, MySQL, Open Source, Hadoop, Java, etc.) For example, an online retailer probably doesn't see themselves as a technology company. But not really CTO events.

In homage to The Dude’s sentiment, tech startup Akanda Virtual Networking named its open source project The Rug because it “ties together” OpenStack networks by managing orchestration, routing and other key network services. True to form, Industry Analysts fueled the technology hype. The More Things Change….

One member of the LaunchTN network of nine regional accelerators, ZeroTo510, in the Greater Memphis Accelerator Consortium, was listed in TechCrunch’s accelerator ranking. Bringing an accelerators’ graduates back as mentors provides value to the next class, certainly. But to the graduates, it provides an opportunity to grow as leaders.

His picture of all of the different elements you have to deal with infrastructure (network, storage, os, db, etc.), Some other points - LAMP,Net, Java - doesn't make much difference. application services (security, integration), etc. does make it seem like it's a lot of work. Server and client in Java. I would tend to agree.

When I meet with Tom offline it’s obvious that he immediately is thinking about product issues, technology trends, funding rounds, etc. Thomas and his partner lived off of credit cards, and used crappy data centers and open source software (LAMP). to find someone they know who knows an investor, network and get an intro.
