I consistently remind my UC Santa Barbara startup students that for most people, money is not a sustaining motivator. They might start a venture with the money as a primary goal, but money alone generally isn''t an adequate catalyst. I am often asked, "John, how do I identify a great startup opportunity?"

I am always on the lookout for inspiring entrepreneurs who have leveraged their passions into healthy livelihoods as they serve as instructive role models for my UC Santa Barbara entrepreneurial students. In 1978, George teamed up with 20-year old Stacy Peralta, a world champion skateboarder. This was an inspiration to me.
