Sonos said Lazarus will head up all legal, corporate governance, SEC reporting, government affairs, regulatory and compliance activities across Sonos' global operations. Lazarus also previously was Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from June 2009 to Feb.

Our last fund we raised was in 2012 and we began investing it in April of 2012. Our 3rd fund began investing in March 2009 (raised in 2008) and our 4th fund started in April 2012 so this fund will naturally begin investing around March / April 2015. That’s why the best firms tend to raise every three years.

You may not see it here in Southern California's high tech sector--which has been booming, due to a surge of startup and accelerator activity--but apparently, the technology sector has seen its highest level of layoffs in three years, according to a report today. The number of cuts is apparently the largest, midyear total since 2009.

As more consumers were skipping commercials the idea of authentically integrating brands into media seemed obvious to me and ended up informing a lot of my investments in 2009 and 2010. At every entrepreneur event I through between 2008-2012 I invite Hamet because he was a great mentor for entrepreneurs. The idea immediately resonated.

Come 2009 we felt really bullish about the future for startups because the froth was gone and so, too, were wantrapreneurs. The people left standing had a compelling vision to build companies and we backed many in 2009. When this period was fresh, in Sept 2009, I wrote a very detailed assessment of what I thought had just happened.
