2011 was an incredibly huge year for us, and 2012 will be the same way. That users get the PIN code, enters it into the registration screen, and if they typed in the right code, they can complete registration and get access to all of what a service provider gives them. I love to rib the Winklevoss twins as much as anyone , but focusing more on California does seem like a smart move to show that they are serious about tech investing. 2011 Holiday.

We built a Proof of Concept in 2010, went into closed beta in 2011 and opened up to the public in Dec 2012. Omidyar Networks – head of investment. They then headed back to the USA and UK to get comment and advice on the platform, after which they returned to South Africa, made the enhancements and launched a closed beta in 2011.

According to Forrester Research (2011 report) 77% users who abandoned an online purchase cite the inability to speak to some as their primary reason for leaving. This is consistent with data I see from RingRevenue , a company in which I invested and sit on the board. Here are some data provided by a BIA / Kelsey report (2012).

The interview was wide ranging and discussed everything from USVs investment thesis over the past 10 years to what some emerging themes are around blockchain and artificial intelligence. And honestly it was the single biggest roadblock at Upfront when we raised out fourth fund in 2011. We as an industry have seen this.

I had been trading emails & Tweets with venture capitalist John Frankel and we were to meet in person in March 2011 at SxSW to talk about Klout and other investments he had made. Other people were convinced including Kleiner Perkins who lead their $30 million fund raising in 2012 (they had previously also invested in 2011).
