I acted as the occasional mentor, advisor and coach to Ethan. RedBeacon went on to sell to HomeDepot in what was considered a very successful acquisition on all sides. But Ethan had left by the time of the acquisition. The company was called Red Beacon. I was standing with him when he won the TechCrunch 50 award.

We''re taking that content, and publishing it on our licensing platform, which is much like a Getty Images for video. That''s relevant, because of our third piece, where we have been hired by traditional media companies, to basically provide them a turnkey, outsources content acquisition team. That''s how each of those pieces evolved.

Leverage Existing Platforms or Third Party Products - you want to test your social network, grab Drupal and whip something together, or even just use a hosted service. If you are on the lower complexity end, the key is defining small chunks of work that can be done quickly by a developer. Third party products are used appropriately.
