Anthem, DFJ Frontier Back Janrain

Two Los Angeles area venture capital firms have re-upped their investments in a provider of identity management software. Other investors, aside form Anthem and DFJ Frontier, were RPM Ventures, Tim Draper, and Square 1 Bank. JanRain said it has raised $15.5M in its new round of funding, which was led by Emergence Capital Partners.

Two Los Angeles-based venture firms, DFJ Frontier and Anthem Venture Partners , have invested in a Portland software firm developing online identification and single-sign in software. JanRain's software allows for single sign onto web sites, including using OpenID and other standards.

Many websites are compromised and have been hacked with or set up with embedded nefarious software. Anthem Blue Cross for example could be a phishing loser. The attack is believed to have started with custom malware sent to Anthem IT staff. Never use an administrator account to surf the web or open email.
