Focus on the ultimate customer, and find a way to improve satisfaction, grow revenue, or cut costs. Market yourself both inside and outside your current job. Walk away from a bad role or customer.

Actively participating in social media is the place to start, including blogging and positively responding to customer feedback, to build a growing crowd of followers.

Seth’s interest in helping others grew out of his lack of having a mentor. He was drawn to Stanford by the people ecosystem- access to professors and mentors. Leverage a feedback platform like Get Satisfaction or UserVoice. Initial traffic was driven by word-of-mouth, specifically blogs and a bit of luck.
