Today, we have Aaron Fyke , Founder and Managing Partner of Thin Line Capital (www.thinlinecapital.com). Thin Line Capital successfully reached the final close of its first fund. I have been able to work closer with my entrepreneurs, as well as closer with other incubators and accelerators than would have been the case.

In just the last few weeks, at least five different incubation/acceleration efforts have booted up in the region. Specifically targeted at clean techonlogy firms, the group has more of a traditional incubator program, offering up office space for 6-8 companies, along with support, resources, and mentorship.

The new group, The Tech CEO Network , said it is looking to help bridge between the technology present at local schools like Caltech, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, and other universities, and actual, viable companies. The founders of the group, Richard Koffler and John Morris , are two well known investors in the Los Angeles area.

I then became and EIR at UC San Diego, and joined EvoNexus, the not-for-profit incubator run by the Irvine Company. But, there is broad agreement that it would be a wonderful thing to get more entrepreneurs and venture capital into the region. As you know, Silicon Valley has a locker grip on the venture capital community.
