You need a CDN to improve the performance of your content, especially as the web is getting heavier, more complicated, and there's more rich media.

Funding is different – In Silicon Valley you have mega venture capital funds and many of them. Los Angeles. People either love it our hate it. As a result many funds are OK with big bets.
