Manhattan Beach-based Morphlabs , which develops software for managing public and private cloud computing infrastructure, said this week that it has launched a new product called mCloud On-Demand. Morphlabs is one of the newest software firms started by Winston Damarillo, who has previously founded such firms as Gluecode.

I recently spoke with Marten Mickos, the former CEO of MySQL and current CEO of Eucalyptus Systems , the leader in private cloud platforms. Eucalyptus’ underlying technology was developed at UC Santa Barbara. Marten also offers some grounded advice for emerging entrepreneurs interested in starting a venture within the cloud ecosystem.

On the surface the narratives have been. The rise of “micro VCs” or seed-stage funds. We are in a bubble (with so many private $1bn+ valuations).
