My background was 8 years of telecoms & mobile and 8 years of cloud computing & SaaS – so these two themes were a given. Two big themes have emerged in my head in the past 3 years: offline / online integration and mobile computing. They recommend up-sells and cross-sells of products.

In my show with Dana Settle (near the very end of the video if you’re interested) I said two things: 1) I’m routing for Huddle because I always route for UK-based companies and 2) I was worried that they were spread too broadly and perhaps they should focus around a few key areas in which they can build market-leading products.

I entered Pepcom’s Mobile Focus event with heightened excitement after driving through the busy intersections of Downtown San Diego’s rickshaw littered streets. Literally, I mean everyone… pets included, with Tagg , a Qualcomm backed venture that allows consumers to track their dogs via mobile or computer access.

They were going to bring the Internet to your mobile phones ushering in the era of “m-commerce.&# Gag. I had just returned from living in Japan where I witnessed the hugely successful launch of i-mode by NTT DoCoMo so I knew the potential that the mobile web would ultimately bring, but I saw so many flaws in the launch of WAP.

Our chief architect, Ryan Lissack, wanted to store our data in Amazon’s new (at the time) storage product called S3 that enabled us to store all our data in their facility and we’d pay by the MBs uploaded / downloaded. It’s the input screens where we enter data or search requests. I was dead set against it.

Thanks to technology they can use IP camera hosting to have their systems all set up using cloud computing, and then activate them from their personal watches. Screen space is valued for the utility it provides in browsing the internet, interacting with apps, managing photos, and more. But would customers necessarily want this?
