We have a number of locations, including one in Santa Monica, one in Pasadena, one in Downtown, and one in El Segundo and the South Bay Area. In Silicon Beach, and in Santa Monica, we've adapted to that community as far as staffing and circumstance. Cross Campus is really a community oriented around coworking.

I then worked as a product manager at NetZero/United Online in the VOIP group, and then most recently at Google as a product manager on the Picasa/Photos team based in Santa Monica. Tell me a bit about your background.

Move our offices to Santa Monica so we could be closer to the early-stage companies being created in LA. I created an accelerator & mentor network (Launchpad LA). Greg truly is a prolific deal maker and is amongst the most helpful people to entrepreneurs in our ecosystem. From 2007-2012 I scoured LA constantly.

A move to more urban environments (SF over SV, Cambridge over Waltham, London over Thames Valley, Santa Monica / Venice, Flatiron and so forth) as basically young people want to live where young people want to live. So the startup work moves to where the startup founders live and not vice versa. I wish every city could have an 1871.

Every entrepreneur at some point has probably felt like this and asked themselves the question: “now what?” Well, perhaps it’s time to consider an incubator/accelerator program: Programs like Silicon Valleys’ Y Combinator which essentially put entrepreneurs through a 3+ month startup boot camp.

Last week Fred Wilson and I sat down in Santa Monica for an hour+ discussion with the video cameras rolling. Fred has of course been a public mentor to us all with his market-defining terminology that he popularized including “freemium” and “mobile first.” Blogging is like Venus Fly Paper.
