At the CTO Group that I organize in Santa Monica, we've had lots of discussions around this. Stamps.com - two back-ends - mainline service vs. marketing site. From BBM's web site: media RSS - extensions to RSS subscription format to support time based media, enclosures, copyrights and other meta-data needed for media.

Almost as important as what they do on your site is where they came from and how they got there. This is especially useful if you use links in social media (blogs, tweets, Facebook links or YouTube links) to grab some traffic. Google Analytics works within RSS feeds as well: [link] e.) I did a presentation about the use of Social Media to a great group of people who mostly are different kinds of service professionals (attorneys, accountants, consultants, etc.). But from a value perspective, it really comes down to the numbers I showed for my eLearning Technology blog. But the web site visitors are accurate.
