The following post is a comprehensive summary of the developer-facing changes coming in Java 8. At the time of this writing, Java 8 development is still very much in progress. It had the best support for the Java 8 language features at the time I went looking. Language features and APIs may still change.

San Diego-based Qualcomm and Sun Microsystems announced today that the two are in an effort to port the popular Java programming language to Qualcomm's Snapdragon ARM processor. According to the two firms, Sun has ported its Java Platform Standard Edition 6( Java SE 6) to machines running on Qualcomm's processor.

The topic is: Betting Your Company On An Internet Platform? A very interesting topic, especially for those of us involved in developing for start-ups. However, these platforms could be interesting for prototype and pilot solutions. The other conclusion was that you need to have a migration path from the platform.

Authors Note: Were using the word "framework" loosely to refer to platforms, micro-frameworks, and full-stack frameworks. Netty , Vert.x , and Java servlets are fast, but we were surprised how much faster they are than Ruby , Django , and friends. In third place is plain Java Servlets running on Cauchos Resin Servlet container.

Los Angeles-based Webalo , a company which provides mobile application development tools, said this afternoon that it has raised $3M in a new funding round. Webalo says its software eliminates much of the coding, wating, and cost of traditional, mobile application development. Easton Ventures, Balch Hill Capital, and others.
