I’m seeing and hearing that it’s becoming tough finding good developers again, at least here in Los Angeles. On Friday, at the LA CTO Forum , I heard from a couple of CTOs having trouble finding good developers. My company, TechEmpower , recently added a few top notch developers, but it wasn’t easy to find just the right people.

He gossips with the office manager who tells 3 software developers. I don’t like distributed development teams in early stage businesses. As your company develops you’ll obviously need to hire sales talent in multiple locations. I’m fine with key developers being in a remote location.

One of Southern California's biggest assets are the number of world class, local universities researching and developing technology and knowledge across a large number of disciplines. What our company is doing, is it is developing an online tool for people to find addiction treatment to meet their needs. Adi Jaffe: It is tough.

Right now, we are running targeted ads using ad networks or whatnot. We had some great offshore coders as part of the engineering team. What is the business model here? Clark Benson: There is the initial business model, and then there is also what we grow into as we scale. Most of that funding is going towards staffing up.
