Many early stage CEOs and board members have asked for some guidance regarding pay and time commitments for board members. Here is my best advice, based upon many boards and many years. Pay early stage board members of companies that are not lifestyle businesses one percent of the fully diluted equity in the form of an option that vests over four years of service.

Snap Cuts 120 Engineers, Citing Job Performance

Venice, California-based social networking app developer Snap Inc. has laid off more than 120 engineers, according to reports based on internal emails being circulated from the company, saying it had cut its "lowest performing" engineers in recent job reviews. The layoffs represent around 10 percent of Snap's engineering team. Snap also cut employees in December.

Santa Monica-based movie ticketing service provider Atom Tickets announced this morning that it has raised over $60M in a new, Series C funding round, which was led by Fidelity Management & Research Company, and which also included Lionsgate, Disney, and Twentieth Century Fox Film.
