GreenPark Sports, Founded By Former YouTube, Zappos, Blitz Founders, Finds $8.5M

Calabasas-based GreenPark Sports --a new startup founded by Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube; Nick Swinmurn, founder of Zappos; and Ken Martin, co-founder of Blitz--has raised $8.5M in a seed funding round. GreenPark Sports says it is a publisher and developer of "fan-forward", digital experiences and mobile games for the new generation of sports and eSports fans.

GOAT Goes Gucci, Adds Luxury Brands

Los Angeles-based GOAT , which operates an online marketplace for collectible sneakers, is branching off into the luxury brand market, adding such brands as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Off-White, and others, the company said on Monday. The items are currently available on GOAT's smartphone apps for iOS and Android, and will eventually be available on GOAT's website and WeChat.

MediaLab, Maker Of Whisper, Buys Kik

Instant messaging service Kik has been sold to Los Angeles-based MediaLab , the owner of anonymous messaging app Whisper , the companies said over the weekend. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. The two said that Kik Interactive, the owner of Kik, sold both Kik and other "selected assets" to MediaLab. The sale of Kik to MediaLab is related to the legal issues that Kik has been battling with the SEC over its "Kin" cryptocurrency.

Teledyne Gets $178M In Special Operations Contract

Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies reported this morning that it has scored a $178M contract, to product underwater combat submersibles for the Special Forces. According to Teledyne, the contract win came for Teledyne Brown Engineering, its subsidiary in Huntsville, Alabama, from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Los Angeles-based advertising exchange operator Rubicon Project said this morning that it has acquired RTK.io , a developer of open source, header bidding solutions for publishers. According to Rubicicon Project, it paid $11M in cash for RTK. Rubicon says that RTK's solutions are build on the same, open source framework as its own, Demand Manager product portfolio, Prebid.
