LA Number Two Tech Employment Area In Nation, Says Report

A new report, published this week by the nonprofit CompTIA group, says that Los Angeles is the number two metropolitan area in the nation for technology employment. According to the CompTIA 2018 CyberStates report, LA had 501,900 technology workers, number two in the nation behind New York City, which has 664,800. San Francisco, at number four, has 375,000 workers, with San Jose at fifth with 365,600.

The fund was founded by Jesse Draper--the daughter of venture capitalist Tim Draper--who has invested in such firms as Laurel & Wolf, Carbo38, Naya Health, HopSkipDrive, The Flex Comapny, and Sugarfina.

According to Signal Sciences, One Medical will use its Web Protection Platform (WPP) for threat protection and security for its cloud applications. Irvine-based antivirus and endpoint protection software developer Cylance has named a trio of new executives, saying that it has named Grant Johnson as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Kumud Kalia as Chief Information Officer (CIO), and promoted Eric Cornelius to Chief Product Officer (CPO). Johnson was most recently CMO at Kofax, and also has served at Pegasystems, Guidance Software, FileNet Corporation, FrontBridge and Symantec.
