AvantStay Takes $20M For High End, Short Term Rentals

A new, Los Angeles-based startup, AvantStay announced on Wednesday that it has raised $20M in its Series A funding round, to provide affordable, high-end short term rentals to groups to market. The company said the funding was led by 3L Capital, and also included Bullpen Capital, Convivialite Ventures, F-Prime Capital, Zeno Ventures and Olympian Shaun White. AvantStay was co-founded by Sean Breuner and Reuben Doetsch. According to the company, it has now raised $30M in total.

PlayVS Adds $50M In Series C Funding

Los Angeles-based PlayVS , a startup which is creating a nationwide e-sports league for high schoolers, has raised $50M more in a Series C funding round. According to the company, the funding was led by NEA, and also included Battery Ventures, Sapphire Sport, plus angels Dick Costolo and Adam Bain (01 Advisors), Michael Zeisser, Dennis Phelps (IVP) and Michael Ovitz (CAA). PlayVS is led by founder and CEO Delane Parnell.

Transphorm Inks Distribution Deal With Mouser

Goleta-based Transphorm , a designer and manufacturer of high voltage, Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductors, has inked a global distribution agreement with distribution giant Mouser Electronics. According to Transphorm, Mouser will distribute its JEDEC- and AEC-Q101-qualified GaN FETs and evaluation tools. The deal includes its "evaluation kits" for high reliability 650V and 900V Gallium Nitride FETs, which are used for design of power systems and power supplies.

WhiteFox Finds $12M More For Drone Security, Defense

San Luis Obispo-based WhiteFox , which develops tools to defend against hostile drones and help manage drone airspace, has raised $12M more in a Series A funding round, the company announced this morning. According to WhiteFox, it has now raised a total of $26M. The new funding round included Moore Venture Partners, Serra Ventures, Okapi Venture Capital, SaaS Venture Capital, and JAM Capital.
