Maybe those references to TFA sound like bragging, or he thinks “passion for numbers” sounds silly. Customer support emails require both accurate information and a professional, helpful tone. The information provided was all pulled from data he’s already entered - just Mark, Houston, Math Teacher, Teach for America.

Do you need to round trip an email to validate the email? Refer a friend? Cloudsponge for email invites to large group? Do they generate emails or other external notifications? Email - are you sending out emails periodically? Are there complex rules for when emails go out? Commenting?

There are a bunch of questions in Startup Software Development – Do Your Homework Before You Develop Anything , Startup Founder Developer Gap , and in Startup CTO or Developer. Make sure you do reference checks. Most often I ignore the list of references they provide. Don't burn bridges.
