Following a quick ice-breaker game of “Half-baked” where anyone in the room throws out a word to then generate an entertaining pitch, the real pitches began. Tyler Crowley, of Sqweal, Launch, ThisWeekInStartups, Open Angel Forum, and Mahalo, stopped by to give a quick coaching session on pitch prep.

We are also home to DemandMedia (Richard Rosenblatt) and Mahalo (Jason Calacanis). Jason’s cutting wit and insightful commentary made for entertaining listening on topics ranging from the Microsoft / Yahoo! We have accomplished much yet have much work to do.

Here it seems that entrepreneurs are coming out of business school, transitioning from corporate life, or hail from the entertainment industry. Whereas in Silicon Valley, you can have a V.1 That’s typically not the case in Los Angeles. Simply put LA has a lack of GREAT product, UI/UX, and design talent.

Interesting that Booyah is led by a former game producer, Keith Lee, who formerly launched very large products for Blizzard Entertainment. Read more: VentureWire (requires login) , Mahalo Profile Page. It seems to be geared on a “Monopoly” style game. I would also note that they claim 2.1

It should be the next generation content/ entertainment portal that leverages millions of user profiles to more accurately provide data to advertisers on what is appealing to specific demographics. This could also be done by leveraging a partnership (or buyout) of a site like Mahalo. MySpace = Yahoo2.0:
