Santa Monica-based Demand Media surged in its IPO debut Wednesday morning on the NYSE, rising as high as $25.00 Demand Media, which is headed by Richard Rosenblatt, operates a network of content focused sites, including LiveStrong.com and eHow. Demand Media is now trading on the NYSE as DMD. in morning trading.

In my LA I often see computer screens open with entrepreneurs talking about digital media. I don’t see this changing much like I don’t see you building blockbuster movies outside LA or shift the media buying center of gravity out of NY. In New York you have access to fashion, media, art and of course, financial services.
We are a city unique in merging the world’s best content with digital media and technology expertise. In SoCal we are also leaders in affiliate marketing (Commission Junction), Internet video (Hulu) and bringing local businesses online (ReachLocal). Much of this was highlighted at Twiistup.
