Those programs--epitomized by YCombinator in the Bay Area, and TechStars in Boulder, Colorado--attract newly minted entrepreneurs with a mixture of cash and mentoring, and a program which rapidly takes ideas and turns them into viable, executing businesses. Those mentors are not just Bruce and I, although we are full time on this.

Last week, the University of Southern California 's Viterbi School of Engineering announced that it had established a new, business plan competition, the Maseeh Entrepreneurship Prize Competition ([link] specifically aimed at students in the engineering school. Now, I run a hedge fund and finance firm in Southern California.

SoCal startup Moving Analytics is tackling this global problem. We met at University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering’s Robotic Embedded Research Laboratory where Harsh is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. We need to sit less, and move more. We had to talk to at least 100 customers throughout.
