NorthHollywood-based Disney Online , the online publishing arm of Disney Interactive Media Group, announced this morning that it has acquired a number of assets from Canadian firm Kaboose, in a deal worth approximately $18.4M. According to Disney Online, the new web properties complement its existing kids and family sites.
NorthHollywood-based Disney Online said Friday that it has rolled out a new site, DisneyXD , targeted at the "tween" market. The Disney unit said that the online and mobile site would target kids and tween boys with action-based games, full length video, music, sports, and other similar themes.
Taking a clue from Twitter, NorthHollywood-based Geni , the family history and tree site, said Thursday that it has added a new "Follow" feature to the site. The move also will list users as followers of profile, which Geni said would help its users find other users also interested in the same profiles.
NorthHollywood-based Disney Online announced today that the firm has completed its purchase of a number of web sites from Kaboose, including Kaboose.com, BabyZone.com, AmazingMoms.com, and ParentZone.com.
The company said that it is partnering with auto finance provider Westlake Financial Services, which lets users adjust down payments, monthly payments, contract terms, and more on any car listed on the site--short cutting the usually long process at traditional dealerships.
