The two main programmers also graduated in May of 2010 from Harvey Mudd College, and the fourth person on our team recently graduated from UCSD law school. Students who might use Bookrenter might be stealing sales from Chegg, but we're actually open, and just direct students to one of the other. I graduated in May of 2010.

I was graduated with a double degree in economics & political science from UCSD in 1991. It was the midst of a recession and I was happy to have any job at all let alone what was considered one of the more prestigious business jobs at the time graduating from UCSD. That was fine with me – the market is the market. Persistent?

I went to undergrad at UCSD, which is not a place known for its Greek institutions and my father grew up in South America and had know idea what a fraternity was. I talked specifically about it in the context of raising VC / establishing credibility over on the Sales School blog where there’s a video & a transcript.

I then worked in a computer store called Software Centre in high school and college (UCSD). I do find it strange that the most valuable skill for any employee in any company isn’t emphasized AT ALL in my experience: sales. Sales is the lifeblood of every organization. It’s how we move products.
