I first met Ethan in 2005. Ethan recruited a great team of people to help build this proposition including Lisa Robinson running marketing and Rahul Thathoo as CTO who have been working tirelessly for the past year. I was preparing to move back to the US from London after 11 years abroad. It’s more convenient for both sides.

Steve Jillings has a long track record of running successful startups in Southern California, ranging from such companies as FrontBridge Technologies (sold to Microsoft in 2005 for over $200M) and Vantage Media (acquired in 2007). They started in January of 2005. If they like and trust you, it makes things so much easier.

ElNaggar was most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer at CBS Interactive; he co-founded Sapho with fellow CBS Interactive alum Peter Yared, who was CBSi's CTO and CIO. ElNaggar was in Redpoint's LA offices from 2005 until 2011, and had stints on the boards of Machinima and Hark, among other companies.

One of the previous companies I worked on we sold to Microsoft in 2005, and I then spent some time at Microsoft to get that company integrated.

So, we put something together, and put in some money, and literally the next day I was out to breakfast with Josh Roth, the former CTO of Rent.com and NTI Group, and Josh was also looking for something to do. Not everyone had a spam filter, and lots of companies didn't have a spam filter in place until 2003, 2004, or 2005.
