I’m writing this post to explain to entrepreneurs what you should be thinking about in terms of the VC’s you approach and the size and stage of their funds. VC’s often talk about this term as in the total amount of funds EVER raised by that VC. What is a VC fund? What is total assets under management? -

Either downside scenario requires angel deals to be funded further. I know that in late 2010 it’s not as popular to say this because we’re in the era of “super angels&# and feel-good startups. Let’s call these cards 1996-99, 2005-08 and 2010+. got picked up early without raising a lot of VC.

Montgomery expects M&A to rebound to the normal recent levels at 450 deals by 2010. Nearly 50% say they will increase their activity levels in 2010 (hallelujah!) More interestingly Montgomery expect the M&A market to grow to 600 in 2011 and 750 in 2012. with only 19% saying they would decrease levels.

Only one sold for 7 figures in 2012 (investing.com sold for $2.5 The current record was set in 2010, when sex.com sold for $13 million. As a startup, cost to rename your company and change existing collateral may be less than dealing with unmatched names or premium domain pricing. Otherwise, find the owner.

A great recent example of this was a successful group of entrepreneurs who had created a company that will do $10-12 million in revenue at their system integration business (read: services business) in 2011 after having done $5 million or so in 2010 and $2-3 million in 2009. In fact, that’s all that I fund as a VC.

We have a long relationship with them, and have been funding research in their labs, and have a continuing relationship. We're doing our development in El Monte, and we think we'll be operational by the beginning of next year, and full scale by the end of 2010, with product launch in 2011. We refer to them as plastic solar panels.
