According to a recent study done by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, there were 565,000 new businesses created per month in 2010 in the US alone, which is a 15-year high. So what’s an entrepreneur to do to get his new business noticed these days? Even the Google search engine crawlers may take up to two weeks to find you.

The annual study draws data from a variety of public and private sources, including the Kansas City, MO-based Kauffman Foundation, which ranked San Diego ninth on its startup activity index, based on measures of startup density and entrepreneurs in a particular region.

Two weeks after Brad’s post I was at the 140 Conference in LA and I held open office hours for any entrepreneur who wanted to spend 15 minutes talking with a VC about their business. But I’ll judge the angel class of 2009/2010 on a 7-10 year time horizon. Yet nearly any entrepreneur who has an idea that other people aren’t doing will tell you that it’s hard to get investors excited. I was very active in 2009 / early 2010. We’ll re-compare notes then. This requires novel thinking.
