We''ve now reached critical mass in content, and in Asia we''re number three in the amount of information on products and suppliers online. In 2011, we built our site, and in 2012, last year, we started getting content. We focused almost entirely last year on content. Our CTO is mainland Chinese, but was educated here.

The consumer piece is a big part of our business, and the next big piece is the advertiser platform, plus everything we wrap around the advertiser experience, helping them to manage their content, and provide great reporting, and helping them to understand the ROI of doing business with us. We''re connecting those two parties.

Anyone who reads this blog frequently will know that I am a big believer in low-cost video content and specifically the power of YouTube as a content creation & distribution platform. Ynon & I first discussed Maker in early 2012. Another major hire was Ryan Lissack who joined as CTO. New Online Video Trends.

When we first started in 2012, panel programming focused on how to fund your startup, find a CTO, etc. It's amazing how much LA tech has grown since we first started Silicon Beach Fest five years ago. This year, the VR on the Lot conference featured VR and VFX companies and Hollywood filmmakers on the Paramount Lot.

The first-ever Silicon Beach Fest attracted more than 2,000 attendees from LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, New York, Toronto, and London to celebrate LA startups and entertainment with panels, parties, pitch fests, hackathon, and beach games: volleyball, basketball and surfing lessons in Santa Monica and Venice on June 21-23, 2012.
