As a startup advisor and aspiring angel investor, I’ve long been wary of startups trying to create new markets out of problems people didn’t know they have, or problems generally accepted as unsolvable. Overtly design the ecosystem as well as product. You, as the entrepreneur, have to set the culture by everything you say and do.

He was running to be the 42nd mayor of Los Angeles and he outlined his vision to “open up the city government to technology and innovation” if he were elected. Having more great investors is critical to more entrepreneurs staying in LA, which is critical to my long-term success!” Are you kidding me? And this is true.

Eighteen months ago, when MAKE IT IN LA's launch from Mayor's Garcetti's office was featured in a White House press release, we announced an audacious goal of reaching 1,000 entrepreneurs with our programming by the end of this year. We also started offering Factory Tour Workshops to entrepreneurs, with nearly 100 applying for the pilots.
