They first started in 1994 and are therefore almost as old as the Web itself. And as Jon Steinberg of Buzzfeed points out, the CTRs for social media banner ads are just 0.08%. I’m sure it probably resonants with how most of you read the web. I guess from there we had nowhere to go but down. The eyes are in the image.

Web Services, led by Amazon’s AWS, which reduced the costs a further 90%. Open source computing, which reduced costs to start a company by 90%. But what is it we actually DO on the Internet?
