Lynda.com offers up online education courses on things like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and much more. Meritech Capital also participated in the funding. According to Eric Robison, the firm's CEO, the funding round will go towards increasing the firm's global reach and expanding content.

We already had a presence there, and are moving into a standalone building in Calabasas focused on web development. Eric Robison: We're not going to spend it all right way, of course. We also want to expand and work on our web platform, as the scaling of the business requires us to scale that platform.

What we've managed to do, is to use our background in web hosting--my partners and I have been building web hosting companies for years in the app hosting space--to run EdgeCast, in a way that is capital efficient, profitable, and highly performant. Really, it's just another source of capital.
