Irvine-based Integrien Corporation , a developer of IT performance analysis software, said today that it has received a third patent on its technology. Patent 7,707,285, covering "System and method for generating and using fingerprints for IT performance management". The firm had filed for the patent in September of 2006.

Meredith came to see me along with the CTO Marc Berte. Did anybody hold patents that would prevent us from using this technology? I seldom hire patent attorneys during due diligence but this was too important. We hired OSHA regulatory lawyers. We hired IP specialists to review prior art.

Key to required patents or trade secrets. In many cases, one of the co-founders may bring some work in progress that can be patented, trademarked or copyrighted. Every previous experience filing and winning a patent is a rare and valuable asset. The CTO of many technical startups was the original founder.

He left out capital sources, but it's still a pretty succinct list of the types of people / communication you should be having early stage. Startups that come to me and ask me to sign an NDA in order to get Free Startup CTO Consulting really are missing it. You need all of these people to bake the cake. What is Stealth?
