And there is so much money around being thrown at so many entrepreneurs that many firms don’t even care about board seats, governance rights or heaven forbid doing work with the company because that would eat into the VCs time needed to chase 5 more deals. I recently spoke with Marten Mickos, the former CEO of MySQL and current CEO of Eucalyptus Systems , the leader in private cloud platforms. Since its origin as an academic research project in 2007, Eucalyptus has become the dominant open source cloud solution, boasting over 25,000 clouds formed.
