Santa Barbara-based Eucalyptus Systems , the developer of cloud computing management software, said Wednesday that it has opened up a new office in Beijing, China. Eucalyptus said it opened the new office due to a "sharp increase in demand" from organizations in Asia for its software over the past year.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles-based web hosting and cloud computing provider DreamHost (www.dreamhost.com) raised a big, $30M funding round for the company--the first in the company''s long history. Simon Anderson: DreamHost offers a web hosting, and now, cloud computing platform and storage.
