I have personally worked as an employee of large businesses, as well as a partner in new ventures, and found the latter to have more potential for satisfaction. Business owners whose priority is only a financial gain will struggle to find satisfaction and happiness. The return and satisfaction were greater than the cost.

In my view as a long-time business advisor, this problem is driving a new entrepreneur age, with the lure of doing what you love, and loving what you do. Employee engagement is a measure of emotional commitment, leading to work focus, which translates to productivity, satisfaction and happiness. No one is happy or satisfied.

Young entrepreneurs and startups, in particular, often remain naively unfocused, despite their passion, of what it takes to provide the high-quality service expected. It’s a tough job, and inexperienced entrepreneurs just don’t know where to start, and how to do it. Train and coach continuously. Know your customers intimately.
