IdeaLab has created 75 companies, leading to 8 IPOs, 35 or so acquisitions and more than 5 companies worth in excess of $1 billion. That gave Google a huge cost advantage. They are very hands on.

So while these sources now account for 17% of the US power supply (predominantly still hydro and wind), renewables will never fully realize their potential without better scale energy storage solution (for those who track the space, you know despite huge investments in battery technology they are still both expensive and bulky at commercial scale).

How did you end up working with Idealab? Aigerim Duiseneyeva: We met with Idealab through a USC Marshall competition. He decided to invest in us in January of last year, and one of the first New Venture companies. But, the idea and passion for traveling came back, and we came to the idea of solving that pain of traveling.
