The good news for our industry is that the LPs who fund the VC industry are still very big believers in the long-term gains they will get from venture and are still allocating capital to the industry in good times and bad. I have also heard LPs express concern over the last few years about the seed stage of venture.

It’s why in this article I advise that people “market today not futures” because you don’t want your playbook in the hands of the competition. You help them on stories, act as a source, develop real relationships, read their stories and eventually when you have news they’re more willing to have a conversation.

Good news, Fixed , the San Francisco app that helps drivers fight tickets has just launched in Los Angeles after raising an additional $650,000 in seed funding last February. Fixed is not without competition, LA-based Cited launched last year and charges 20% of the cost of the ticket. Yeah, purposefully vague.

This has led to the creation of incubators, accelerators and seed funds. Contrary to some press reporting, the boom in startups, the creation of accelerators and seed funds as well as the deserved popularity of AngelList do not signal doom for our industry. Thank you, Aaron Sorkin!
