Slingshot is venture backed by ATX Venture Partners, Revolution's Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Techstars Ventures, and Okapi Venture Capital, along with others.

Most VCs did well academically and had enough career success that a venture firm was willing to give them an investment role or they were able to raise their own fund. That’s why I often say The role of VC is “chief psychologist.” Marketing departments, software partners and investors have now woken up to this opportunity.

I spent nearly a decade building software for large companies and then advising companies on the same. You’re sales person is getting blocked by the CTO who says she shouldn’t go above him but the CTO isn’t approving the deal. If you’re not then you’re not trying hard enough. I certainly hope so.

From there, I became the first non-founder employee at an e-commerce startup called BITSource, which was the first electronic software distributor delivering electronic volume software licenses to corporations. For consulting work, I have done several projects with Lou Sokolovskiy of Genero Capital , a boutique private equity firm.

HV: I would also add one more thing — we have consulted with neuroscience professionals here at USC, and they have informed the development of behavioral science models that we have built into our platform. And the funding for this study came through the PhD program at USC? So that pretty much helped to influence our design.
