El Segundo-based Image Metrics , a developer of computer vision and facial analysis and tracking tools, has rolled out a new platform for implementing augmented reality (AR), which it calls LUNAR. The company said its tools can be used with existing iOS or Android apps, or standalone.

El Segundo-based iRise , the developer of enterprise application prototyping tools, is taking on the iPhone app market, saying today that it has launched a new visualization product called iRise Studio MX, which allows users to create iPhone app prototypes. iRise said the new private beta of the product is free.

El Segundo-based iRise , which develops enterprise software visualization tools, said today that it has named Ed Lange, former Global Chief Customer Officer for SAP, as a strategic consultant and member of its board of advisors. iRise said the addition of Lange is part of an effort to understand the SAP market.

Most of the solutions in our market are for lots of doctors, and are on-premise solutions, and are really designed for bigger physician groups and hospitals. We use a recurring revenue model, where a customer pays us a few hundred dollars on average. How did you determine this was the market to tackle, and how did you get into this?

Earlier this month, his latest startup, El Segundo-based Morphlabs announced it had raised a Series B funding worth $5.5M. It's a known market with urgency, so we started there. In our case, the workload manager comes from Eucalyptus, the configuration management from Puppet, and a third systems management tool.
