Santa Monica is the place where the highest concentration of early-stage startups are created if you consider also the contiguous geography of Venice Beach. But in Los Angeles, Santa Monica is akin to SoMa in San Francisco, Cambridge in the Boston area or Flatiron / Union Square in NYC. We chose a location that fit our style.

The real estate impact of this activity can probably be traced to the 2011 arrival of Google in the Frank Gehry-designed “binoculars” building on Main Street in Santa Monica. But it was the low-key, creative beach vibe of Venice and Santa Monica that spurred a spate of start-ups to seek offices and homes. Here, prices can climb higher.

Prices are soaring in the beachfront communities tech types favor, and rents in these. The narrow, 3-mile strip of land that runs from Santa Monica through Venice, and is now stretching down to Playa Vista, has been dubbed "Silicon Beach" due to the heavy concentration of Internet companies and executives there. VENICE RISING.
