Following a quick ice-breaker game of “Half-baked” where anyone in the room throws out a word to then generate an entertaining pitch, the real pitches began. Those with their ideas selected were out on the prowl, looking to recruit the top designer or developer in the room. By 6:30 the house was packed and SWLA was underway.

In the bay area it’s quite common for the entrepreneurs starting a company to be developers or technologists who can build the first versions of their products. That’s typically not the case in Los Angeles. Simply put LA has a lack of GREAT product, UI/UX, and design talent. In fact Paige Craig has coined it Silicon Beach.

It should be the next generation content/ entertainment portal that leverages millions of user profiles to more accurately provide data to advertisers on what is appealing to specific demographics. This could also be done by leveraging a partnership (or buyout) of a site like Mahalo. MySpace = Yahoo2.0:
