Los Angeles-based j2 Global , which owns a large portfolio of Internet services, including such services as eFax, eVoice, Campaigner, Livedrive, as well as online media outlets like IGN, Mashable, PCMag, Everyday Health, and others, has acquired five more companies. According to j2 Global, the five acquisition were all made in the third quarter of 2018, and included PRIME Education , The Communicator Corporation , BestBlackFriday.com (certain assets), Downdetector , and DemandShore.

Cloud9 , an e-sports firm which operates an e-sports league, has raised $50M in a Series B funding round, and set up its permanent headquarters in Los Angeles. According to the company, the funding was led by Valor Equity Partners, which will add Partner Antonio Gracias to Cloud9's board of directors. The round also included TrueBridge Capital Partners, Reimagined Ventures and Glassdoor founder Robert Hohman.
