Westlake Village BioPartners, Led By Amgen Vets, Launches $320M Fund

Westlake Village BioPartners , a brand new venture capital fund focused on the life sciences, said on Wednesday that it has launched a new, $320 investment fund aimed at early stage companies. The firm said Harper will move to the firm beginning in January 2019, with current Kleiner Perkins Chief Operating Officer Scott Ryles becoming Chief Operating Officer at Westlake Village BioPartners.

CoverHound Collects $55M For Insurance Marketplace

CoverHound , the online insurance shopping marketplace with offices in Westlake Village, has raised $55M more in a funding round, the company said this morning. Coverhound's offices are split between San Francisco and Westlake Village. The funding was led by Hiscox, and also included Chubb, Aflac Ventures, and MS&AD. The company says it has now raised $110M in total. Coverhound is led by CEO Keith Moore.

The funding came from multiple, un-named strategic partners. The company was founded by Michael McCrary.

Independent Technology Group Acquired By InterVision Systems

InterVision is owned by private equity investor Huron Capital. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. According to Blue, the new USB microphone is specifically designed for broadcast-quality podcasting, YouTube productions, game streaming, Skype/VoIP calls and voiceover work. Sienna Biopharmaceuticals Sees IPO Bump In First Day Of Trading

Westlake Village-based Sienna Biopharmaceuticals saw a healthy bump on its firs tday of trading as a public company, closing at $19.25 per share, or up 28.33 percent. Sienna, which debuted on Thursday as SNNA on the NASDAQ Global Market, had priced at $15.00 per share on Wednesday evening. Sienna Biopharmaceuticals Names CFO

Westlake Village-based Sienna Biopharmaceuticals said Friday that it has named Richard Peterson as the company's new Chief Financial Officer. Peterson was most recent at Novan, where he also served as Chief Financial Officer, and also has served as CFO and Treasurer at Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, in addition to serving as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sienna says that Peterson will take over from John Smither, who is retiring, but will remain as an advisor.

Burnett, has stepped down from the company. According to the firm, its CEO, Steven N. Bronson, will assume the role of acting Chief Financial Officer. According to Interlink, Bronson remains CFO of an OTC pink sheets traded company, BKF Capital Group, which owns 13.5 percent of the common stock of the company.

The deal is worth $117M in cash. Blue Microphones was led by CEO John Maier. Logitech said Blue Microphones' products are used by such artists as Bob Dylan and Imagine Dragons, and said the acquisition will help accelerate its entry into a growing market.
