Skyworks Gets Design Win With Inseego

Irvine-based semiconductor developer Skyworks Solutions says it has been selected by Inseego , to provide chips for Inseego's next generation 4G and 5G mobile hotspots. According to SkyWorks, its SkyOne Ultra 30 chips are being used by Inseego's new MiFi 8800L device, a 4G/5G hotspot which supports more than 23 wireless radio bands. Expected shipment volumes and financial impact of the win were not announced.

VivoAquatics Raises $8M

Monrovia, California-based VivoAquatics , a provider of water management services for hotels, resorts, and waterparks, has raised $8M in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the company this week. Details of the funding had not yet been announced by the company. According to the filing, 2 investors participated in the equity funding round, which closed on Tuesday.

UberMedia Sells Managed Media Business Unit To LA's Gimbal

Pasadena-based UberMedia , the Idealab-backed developer of mobile analytics software, said this week that it has sold its managed media business unit to Los Angeles-based Gimbal. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. According to Gimbal, the buy will help it gain access to new markets where it did not previously have a presence. Gimbal--previously known as The Mobile Majority--develops proximity and location management software, and is led by CEO Rob Emrich.

Smith Micro Completes ISM Connect Acquisition

Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said Wednesday afternoon that it has completed its acquisition of ISM Connect , a developer of software which provides on-screen, interactive demos for wireless carriers and retailers. Smith Micro is paying approximately $9.8M for ISM Connect, split between $4M in cash and $5.8M in Smith Micro common stock. Smith Micro said the acquisition would provide it with a "new growing and profitable" revenue stream.

SpaceX Aims At Friday Morning For Vandenberg Launch

Hawthorne-based SpaceX has rescheduled its next launch from the West Coast, its Iridium-8 satellite launch, for tomorrow, January 11th, and 7:31 a.m. PST. SpaceX has already successfully launched a number of the Iridium satellites into orbit from Vandenberg.
