Amgen Acquires Otezla for $13.4 Billion

Thousand Oaks-based Amgen announced this morning that it is acquiring Otezla , the anti-inflammatory drug used to treat psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, which is currently owned by Celgene Corporation , in a deal worth $13.4 billion in cash. According to Amgen, the deal will help strengthen its inflammation portfolio, and will be worth approximately $11.2 billion net of anticipated future cash tax benefits.

Los Angeles-based Podcorn , a new startup founded by former Famebit founders Agnez Kozera and David Kierzkowski, has raised $2.2M in a seed funding round for a new, podcast advertising venture, the company said on Monday. The funding was led by Global Founders Capital, and also included Bessemer, 500 Startups, Alumni Ventures Group, and others. According to Podcorn, it has launched a new, self-service platform which helps podcasters find and connect with brands for native sponsorships.

CrowdStrike , the cloud-based cybersecurity software developer which has substantial operations in Orange County, said today that it has launched a new, early stage investment fund called the Falcon Fund.
