Where they go wrong is focusing on the goal behaviors such as “collect an email” or “add an item to the shopping cart” all the way to “spend $10.00 to buy my eBook”.

The disadvantage is that you can’t install a lot of additional tools that use Javascript. The obvious starting point is to email a few friends and let them know you have a new blog. Don’t be overbearing – just an email saying, wanted to let you know about my new blog. At least that’s true in Wordpress.

That way people who want to get your blog by RSS and/or email can do so. Hell, I often can’t even get to email during the day.

Improving Website and Wordpress Performance with Hard-Coded Share Buttons

Wordpress in particular is fairly resource heavy right out of the box so speeding up everything else is a critical piece of running a site on this platform. The problem with most of the share badges out there is that they load a Javascript file from an external source which can take several seconds on a bad day. Thanks for the comment!
