There are now a second generation of entrepreneurs and companies that have learned from their last successes and are producing great new companies like TopSpin Media , Sometrics and GumGum. My mom was an entrepreneur – she was kind of my inspiration for entrepreneurship. And no one could see me as anything but a startup guy, so I started a second company and called myself a serial entrepreneur. Then everyone just started calling me a serial entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur you have to suspend disbelief.

Check Google , Yellow Pages , and local directories to ensure your business name is not taken. Set up an online phone system ( Ring Central , Google Voice , Onebox ) or set up a traditional land line ( Verizon , AT&T ). Speak to entrepreneurs and leaders in your industry and consider asking them to be your mentor.

For example, if it costs $1,000 on Google paid search to get 500 people to visit your site and five of those people purchase an item, your CAC is $200 ($1,000/5). Paid Product Metrics.
